Happy New Year folks !

Finally, it's about time to go back home for vacations. Got hold of this cheap ticket from Qatar Airways but the trick is that the transit at Doha is really long, a whopping 19 hours! And, unfortunately they wont be providing me a hotel, since, of course I bought a cheap ticket.

So, I am having a second thought, maybe why not rather spend that money to get a transit visa and stay at my friend's place and visit Qatar as well. Any of you guys tried this before, during your long transit at Doha? It appears to me like I may need to have a green card and a booked hotel room if planning to apply for the transit visa, but let me know if you guys had different experiences.

You shouldn't need a green card to apply for visa to Qatar.

i knew this existed but don't know much about it. i believe it's free, and don't need visa. please help yourself by learning more.

doesnt qatar give hotel when the transit is longer that 8 hours or maybe longer than 12 hours?
