This situation occasionally affects even green card holders and naturalized citizens. Some states use the SAVE verification system to confirm applicants’ immigration status. However, this system is far from perfect and can take months to update records. The second-step verification, which previously took just a few days, can now take up to two months. This isn’t a new issue. Read immigration forums and you’ll see what I am talking about.
