If you are marrying a GC , your status is not going to be change , keep your own status. Once she/he gets Citizenship, then she/he can process your green card and work permit.
Am i correct?

It's very unlikely that you will get the work permit or even adjust ur status if you marry a US resident since you are already out of status. Even if were in legal status, it would take more than 3 years. But since u said u r out of status, the best thing is to wait till ur GF becomes US citizen and apply therafter.
